FF School Liaisons

Faith Formation School Liaisons

  • Why Faith Formation Liaisons?

How many times have you wished that your child was able to meet other children at school that share their Catholic faith?  We hope to help our St. Mark families build a small group community within their current school community by connecting you with other St. Mark families.  We also hope to build greater partnerships between your family and the support and resources that the St. Mark Department of Faith Formation may provide.

  • Who can be a Faith Formation Liaison?

Any St. Mark parishioner that currently attends a public, charter, or non-Catholic private school and is willing to be a part of a Faith Formation Liaison mailing list to receive messages and possibly participate in group get togethers.

  • What would the job of a Faith Formation Liaison entail?

    A Faith Formation Liaison will:

    • Share information among St. Mark’s parishioner students and parents who attend their specific school.
    • Assist to connect and/or set up visits with other parents, students, and Faith Formation staff upon request.
    • Talk to your small group school community to find out how St. Mark families are doing in the school environment and what support or supplemental materials they could use from the Department of Faith Formation or St. Mark Catholic Church.
    • Assist or help to facilitate community events and activities that support St. Mark families at your school such as meetups, potlucks, play dates, etc.
    • Refer parents and students to the Department of Faith Formation for services they may need.  (Counseling, food insecurity, family emergencies, illness, etc.)
    • St. Mark will use feedback from liaisons to run programs and/or to determine supplemental materials and programs

  • What qualities or skills might a Faith Formation Liaison need?

It’s simple, really.  We’re just looking for someone who has a:

    • Friendly, encouraging, inclusive, and non-judgmental manner
    • Enjoys communicating and building relationships with all
    • Desire to further their own personal faith formation and serve others
    • Respect for people’s privacy
    • Knack for being diplomatic
  • What types of things would the Department of Faith Formation send to those who participate?

We know it’s tough out there for both parents and students.  Parents are the primary teachers of our faith in their children’s lives, and we’d like to support you.  Some ideas might include:

    • How to address “hard topics.”  What does the Catholic church have to say about that?
    • Assist you with establishing a prayerful environment at home.
    • Meet you where you’re at – literally!  Would you like to get a visit from us, or have a youth minister meet your group of students, or meet us as a school group at the church?  Perhaps we can make that happen!
    • Let us know what is going on at your school and what is on the hearts of your students. Fun sports events, school plays, or even tougher things happening at your school, we’d like to know.  Can we send you information or provide you support to help?
