Middle school Catechesis focuses on the four pillars of our Catholic Faith: Profession of Faith (Creed), Liturgy and Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. Weekly lessons use lecture, interactive activities and media. Students will have monthly quizzes throughout the year, and will have service opportunities available outside the classroom.
Our 6th grade students delve into the truths of the Catholic Church as outlined in the Nicene Creed. Students also deepen their knowledge of Scripture through studying Salvation History and the Church. Successful completion of 6th grade is a prerequisite for participation in 7th grade Faith Formation.
7th graders use the Bible as their primary text for exploring the Sacraments, with a special focus on the Mass. Students are challenged to live the graces of Mass in their daily lives through studying the Beatitudes. Successful completion of 7th grade is a prerequisite for participation in 8th grade Faith Formation.
Classes are offered:
Sunday 6:15—7:30 pm
Monday 6:15—7:30 pm
Tuesday 6:15—7:30 pm
We are no longer offering the Sunday evening meal after the 5 pm Mass.
Successful completion of 6th and 7th grade Faith Formation is a prerequisite for Confirmation. For more information, please contact Sonnet Bonelli at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Confirmation Preparation at St. Mark is a two year process.
- 8th Grade Confirmation 1 (remote preparation) consists of formal catechesis, community involvement, worship and service.
- 9th Grade Confirmation 2 (proximate preparation) takes place in the 4-6 months prior to Confirmation. This is a time of increased prayer, continuing service, and deeper understanding of the sacramental life.
