Altar Servers

Welcome to the Resource Page for the St. Mark Catholic Church Altar Server Ministry.  Here you will find materials that will assist you in your calling to serve our God in the sacrifice of The Holy Mass.

Please read the following letter from Father Putnam, as an introduction to potential new Altar Servers, and a great reminder for our current servers.

Altar Server Training:

• New Altar Server training is typically held 2 to 3 times a year.  Please watch the bulleting for announcement.

• Current Altar Server Refresher & Specialized training is also held for current servers 2-3 times a year (notifications done via e-mail).

In the past, there has been an Altar Severing outing at the end for the school year as a ministry treat (we’ve held picnics, gone bowling, and last year it was a trip to Carowinds).  We hope to continue this tradition.

Questions concerning scheduling should be emailed to Kara Martinez, karamartinez442@msn.com.  Tom Rider is responsible for training and communicating any changes in the process/practices for the Alter Servers (via email), rhouse0@yahoo.com.

As Father stated in his letter, it is a great honor and privilege to serve at the altar of God.  Our ministry recognizes that with this great privilege comes great responsibility.  So, we serve our Lord with confidence, because you are competent, well prepare, well dressed, in prayer posture, with a quiet heart for prayer, and finally humbled in the close proximity to which you’ll attend the Altar, (only the Priest and Deacons are closer the miracle that occurs at Mass).  As Altar Servers, our roles are to (1) assist Father and Deacon, and (2) most importantly to attend Mass and become holier for this time with our Lord.

Training Materials are distributed in the training sessions, but if additional copies are needed, please contact Tom Rider.
